This beach might be my favorite so far. We’ve visited many of Cape Town’s shores, and each one has its own beauty, but this stretch stood out for its calm atmosphere and clean sand. The beach was relatively empty when we arrived, which made it feel peaceful and intimate. In the distance a small wedding was being held on the sand, a gentle reminder of how special some beaches can be for quiet celebrations.
At the entrance we noticed a warning sign that cautioned visitors about the water conditions. The ocean here can be unpredictable, and while the color and clarity make it inviting, the currents and waves can be strong. Even so, a few surfers paddled out, undeterred by the cautionary notice.
The water was absolutely gorgeous—clear blue with light reflecting off the surface. I limited myself to wading ankle-deep, preferring to admire the sea from the sand and the rocks rather than test the surf. Watching surfers navigate the waves from the shore was entertaining and reassuring that others felt comfortable despite the warning.
Large boulders and rocky outcrops are common along many Cape Town beaches, and this one is no exception. These rocks create dramatic scenery and invite exploration. When they are easy to climb, they offer elevated vantage points to soak in the panorama of sea and sky. My partner loves to scramble up the rocks and find new viewpoints, while I take a more cautious approach. Still, it’s worth the effort when the view rewards you with a sweeping sightline over the water.
On this visit he paused long enough for me to capture one of my favorite photos of him—perched on a rock, looking out across the bay. The combination of the rugged stones and the gentle surf created a perfect backdrop for that moment, and I found myself appreciating both his adventurous spirit and the simple pleasure of being near the ocean.
As with many coastal areas here, tiny lizards darted across the rocks, adding small flashes of life to the otherwise still landscape. Watching them move among the crevices reminded me how connected the shoreline is to a wider ecosystem, from the smallest reptiles to the birds and marine life beyond the breakers.
The view behind us was just as remarkable as the one facing the sea. Rolling cliffs and coastal vegetation framed the beach, creating a sense of enclosure that felt private and sheltered. The contrast between the soft sand underfoot and the rugged stone nearby made the spot especially appealing for wandering and pausing to take in the scenery.
I never tire of Cape Town’s beaches. Each visit reveals a different aspect of the coastline—unique rock formations, shifting light on the water, and small moments like a couple exchanging vows or a lizard sunning on a warm stone. This particular beach combined solitude, natural beauty, and memorable views in a way that left a lasting impression.
With its clean sand, clear water, and quiet atmosphere, this beach is a place I would happily return to. Whether you come to climb the rocks, watch the surfers, or simply sit and listen to the waves, it’s a shoreline that rewards a slow visit and close attention to the details that make coastal moments memorable.
