  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste or 1 clove minced garlic
  • 18 ounces sliced fresh asparagus (trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable broth (plus more if serving chilled)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 teaspoons freshly chopped chives
  • 2 teaspoons freshly chopped dill

Instructions
